She became involved in her profession because she always had an interest in politics and involvement in the constituent part of governing.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. McCormick is a multiple sclerosis survivor. She started her career with the state government in human services, and in 1988, she was asked by the governor to work for his office. After his term, she went to the Democratic Party and was the executive director of the party for the state of West Virginia. She then went back to work for another governor and then for the Democratic Party again, and then to her third governor's office position. While working for the Democratic Party, she attended many conventions for Bill Clinton and was invited to his inauguration and the White House. She has met Bill Clinton many times. She would like to add a quote from one of the governors that she has worked for when she wanted to go to the Democratic Party: The governor stated, "It would be an injustice to let you go, but it is a great opportunity." The governor also remarked, "Debbie, you always do a great job, so great opportunities will present themselves."
