He attributes his success to the support of his family and parents, as well as his communication skills, and treating people with dignity and respect.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession after being born and raised on a farm, serving in the U.S. Army, and studying arson and food genetics. Later on, he was encouraged to run for county executive and was first elected in 1999.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Paltzer served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1964. For 40 years, he was a plant agronomist working with hybrid seed corn and hybrid winter wheat for milling. Today, he has four sons, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a volunteer for the Grand Chute Fire and Rescue Department for 45 years, and has been a member of the Outagamie 4H Club for 50 years, and a member of the Wisconsin Crop Improvement Association for 30 years.
Mr. Paltzer spends quite a bit of time at the Community Blood Center donating blood plasma and platlets.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversaw a county budget of $210 million for the airport, a long-term health care facility for seniors and a recycling program that covered three counties and more; Managed methane gas sales; Worked with various department commissioners; Ensured delivery of county services; Worked for 35 years as an international businessman doing bovine embryo work; Exported bovine embryos to 15 foreign countries
