The highlights of her career include attending an international conference for families in Malta and Budapest, being married, experiencing the birth of her son and the adoption of her foster children, and traveling to Uganda where she fulfilled her childhood dream of seeing Lake Victoria, participated in an international congress of colleagues and was featured as a keynote speaker.

She attributes her success to her faith in God and desire to help people to lead a peaceful life.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after coming through a time of great strife, which included hunger, war, gender issues and social unrest, and as she continued nursing she and her husband became educated on peace and justice; when she fell ill during her pregnancy with their son, she had to stop nursing, however, she continued to educate herself, and attained specialized education.

Ms. Haessly has published two books entitled 'Weaving a Culture of Peace' and 'Learning to Live Together.' She has also contributed numerous education books and publications.
