She attributes her success to her mother, who always wanted her to do her best and taught her the value of hard work and being accountable.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession when she was working for FEMA after that she was in the middle of a hurricane in the Virgin Islands.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. White recently started in a documentary entitled "Pretty Old". The film won the best documentary in 2012 Santa Barbara film festival. She migrated to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands from New York City in the 60's where she had a career as business representative with the New York telephone company. She worked in education in the Virgin Islands for almost 30 years as a high school social studies teacher, and a guidance counselor. She served as a career education specialist, an alternative education coordinator, and later as the territory wide, student services coordinator where she concluded her work history in education in the Virgin Islands department of education. She later did post doctoral work in theology. All her academic achievements led to a lifetime of working with people in the helping profession either as a teacher, a counselor, a mentor, a confidante, this background opened the door for her to work with FEMA as an equal rights officer where she served the American people wearing two hats. She protected the rights of applicants for disaster assistance and of employees during her work periods. She remained in this position for many years, and this background opened the door for her to be selected for a position as a chief of staff.
