Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Ridha-Albarzanchi and his colleagues established the first Iraqi test tube baby in Iraq on March 20, 1990. His book, ‘Primate Reproduction, Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technologies’ will be published in 2008. Dr. Ridha-Albarzanchi published 93 research papers in national and international scientific journals in the field of human and animal physiology, endocrinology, reproduction, infertility and assisted reproductive technologies. Professor Ridha-Albarzanchi earned his DVM and Master degree from University of Baghdad and Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University in 1983. He completed his postdoctoral training on Primate In-Vitro Fertilization and embryonic development at the Endocrine Research Center at Michigan State University in 1984. Under his leadership, the first Iraqi test tube baby was born in March 20, 1990 named Ali. Dr. Ridha-Albarzanchi received several national and international medals from Iraq, Jordan, France, The United States, Belgium, and China for his recognized research work in human and animal health. He is the co-author of the scientific books ‘Infertility and In-Vitro Fertilization in Iraq,’ ‘Test Tube Babies and Gene Cloning from Islamic Sight.’ He is currently writing a scientific textbook with Professor W. Richard Dukelow, the former Director of the Endocrine Research Center at Michigan State University. The book will be called ‘Primate Reproduction, Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technologies.’ Dr. Ridha is also working on developing a potent non-hormonal contraceptive agent. Among his numerous career achievements, he developed a new technique for staining MI and MII egg chromosomes and spindles to diagnose the causes of abnormal eggs, which are responsible for recurrent abortions, malformation and infertility. He was responsible for developing a technique for aspiration viable sperm in non-obstructive azzospermic infertile men undergoing sperm intracytoplasmic sperm injection and embryo transfer (ICSI-ET) treatments.
