Mr. Lawley served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant and filler in the U.S. Army National Guard's 49th Armored Division, nicknamed the Lone Star. It was one of two armored divisions of the U.S. Army National Guard which was organized and recognized federally on February 24th, 1947.
