Expanded Biography:
Ms. Hawthorne is most proud of her three daughters who have blessed her with 12 grandchildren. Her first husband, Dr. T. Gordon Noble was killed in 1974 when her children were 4,5,and 7 years old. As a widow at 32, she knew she had to become seriously involved in business to procure the lifestyle she envisioned for her family. Their future was up to her, as she was fully responsible. She needed to live positively, be assertive and overcome any obstacles. In honor of her deceased husband, she founded a seminar entitled "Death and the Spouse's Problems" for the University of Texas Dental School. Due to its success, it was made a part of the seminars offered at the State Dental Convention. Her philosophy today is to aspire to her best potential self physically, mentally and spiritually. She wishes to make a contribution so as to leave the world more enriched because she was here. As she says, "Remember the influences and memories of the lives we touch are what remain of us." She is proud to be one of the multiplying seniors, and plans never to retire but change direction and continue to challenge her life's journey to encourage a positive image of aging. One of the honors of which most delighted her was being selected as the cover by Texas Business Magazine in 1985 as one of eight women entrepreneurs. Following her completion of the Leadership Texas class of 1984, she was appointed by Texas Governor White as a state commissioner for the Governor's Commission for Women. During her two years as one of 12 commissioners, the best contribution was to establish The Texas Women's Hall of Fame, which is still in existence. As a fifth generation native Texan able to verify her ancestry to being one of the original 300 families in Texas before 1836, she is a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Alamo Chapter-San Antonio.
