She became involved in her profession when, after working as a speech pathologist for one year, she noticed a need to reform the public school system and improve the delivery of services to students in special education.

Dr. Loredo and her husband, in association with seven other married couples, are the founders of Sembradores de Austin Amistad, which means "source of friendship." This charity is devoted to supporting first-generation students pursue post-secondary education. Approximately $600,000 in endowed scholarships have been given to Huston Tillotson University, The University of Texas at Austin, Concordia University, and St. Edward's University.

Overseeing all state mandates for P-16 Initiatives programs; Bridging the gap in public and post-secondary education; Receiving state funding to create pilot programs that bring students access to post-secondary education while maintaining their success in their current proceedings; Overseeing program initiatives from access to completion
