Ms. Derouin owned and ran a night club in Colorado, as well as a factory that supplied eight stores in New Jersey with ceramics and statues. She gained business knowledge from her late husband, who believed in her, supported her ideas and promoted self-reliance. She has four children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
