What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Ms. Halencak-Kahlig's greatest career achievement's were witnessing one of her students, a two-time state champion, being selected as the second best shot putter in the United States; being named teacher of the year in 2009; being inducted in HEB Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and seeing three of her ESL students from Congo in Africa wrote at level four in the proficiency test for the State of Texas, which is the highest attainable level.
How would you like to be remembered by your peers?:
Ms. Halencak-Kahlig would like to be remembered by her peers as a teacher who put every effort into her teaching in order to allow her students to reach all their attainable goals.
If you could solve one problem in the world today, what would it be?:
Ms. Halencak-Kahlig would like to help children to love to read.
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?:
Ms. Halencak-Kahlig would like to have lunch with Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama because both of them have incredible stories of family issues and how they have overcome them to become the best they can be.

The highlight of her career was being voted the teacher of the year for the 2008 and 2009 term by her faculty.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession when, in kindergarten, she repeated her lessons to her younger sister, who is now the chief information officer of the company for which she works.

Ms. Halencak-Kahlig has written two articles in English literature. She wrote the curriculum for the advanced AP and IB curriculum. She was also the girl scout troop leader.
