Ms. Benson represented South Carolina in 2006 as the Special Olympics bocce coach at the USA National Games in Iowa, and in 2010 as a Special Olympics athletics coach at the USA National Games in Nebraska. She recently accepted responsibility for the leadership of Special Olympics South Carolina Area 5, which includes the Laurens, Greenwood, Newberry, Abbeville and McCormick counties.
