Ms. Thomas has been employed at Greenville Technical College since July of 1992, joining the Computer Technology department as an instructor then transferring to Online and Non-Traditional Division serving as associate dean from 1999 until becoming dean in August of 2006. She continued to teach as an adjunct computer professor at USC-Union from 2002 to 2004. Prior to teaching at Greenville Tech, she was a computer systems analyst for DHEC and the State Budget and Control Board, Columbia SC. She completed an associate degree from Piedmont Technical College and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College. She earned a master’s at Webster University and an education specialist degree at Nova Southeastern University while working a full-time position. In 1996, the college implemented an online program and she was one of the first instructors to develop and teach one of the six courses for non-traditional learning. Ms. Thomas was born in Greenwood County and grew up in a small town of Ware Shoals, SC. Her husband is originally from Philadelphia, PA and they have been married for 25 years. He is employed with International Paper. They both enjoy USC (gamecocks) and SC State (bulldogs) football, taking care of their boxer/pit (Gungii2), traveling, and cruising around in their 1969 Mercedes 280 S antique automobile. During her spare time, she serves as a board member of Instructional Technology Council (provides exceptional leadership and professional development to its network of eLearning experts by advocating, collaborating, researching, and sharing exemplary, innovative practices and potential in learning technologies), president and board member of HOA-Parks Grove (homeowners association), and life member, vice president of the National Council of Negro Women (Laurens County section).
