What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
She attributes her success to her ability to communicate with her students and their parents as well as being attuned to their needs. She also attributes her success to her ability to garner support and participation from all IEP team members.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after reading a college-mate's book about a man who had his voice box removed due to cancer. She was moved by the story and decided to venture into the field of speech and language pathology.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Grigsby has produced a DVD called "The Sting of Silence," which is about a Holocaust survivor who speaks softly about the triumph of his spirit. The fourth edition has been released for the 2011-2012 academic year, featuring her daughter's voice, sharing a 21st century perspective on the Holocaust. "The Sting of Silence" originated in a junior high gifted classroom where it was filmed. Ms. Grigsby is partial to the intellectually gifted and knows their genius and isolation. At age 11, the school tested her and it was found that she has a high I.Q. She was then placed in the scholar's program throughout school. She participated in the development and standardization of "The Listening Test," by LinguiSystems. In the 2010-2011 school year, a tree was planted in India in her name by her sponsored child as a part of their Green Age Project.
