Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she always wanted to involve herself professionally in education, and, having worked for summer recreation programs, taught in music, earned a master of library science and worked in libraries, she gained extensive experience in the field.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Oettinger previously worked in an elementary school where she was responsible for rendering technical services, instructing students, advising faculty and maintaining the library. She supervised the consolidation of the collections of two elementary schools into one and later supervised the retrospective conversion of two high school library collections when the district purchased a library management system. She also continued to provide library instruction in two high schools and was part of a delegation of librarians that went to China. She retired in 1998.
