He became involved in his profession after receiving an opportunity to hold a junior role in purchasing after college. He found that he had a knack for negotiating and sourcing products.
Extended Bio Profile:
During Mr. Munro's two-and-a-half years with Tim Hortons, he and his team have been successful in saving more than $20 million for the company. While reorganizing the structure of the department, he hired and trained nine additional staff members. In the past, Mr. Munro spent five years as a manager of poultry and seafood procurement for Maple Leaf Foods, and 14 years as a poultry procurement manager for Janes Family Foods.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Overseeing all strategic sourcing initiatives for the company and a staff of 14; Managing $1.5 billion and the supply of all food, beverages and packaging items for 3,800 restaurants in North America, 200 restaurants in Ireland, five restaurants in Dubai and one outlet in Kandahar; Forecasting the cost of products for the upcoming year; Overseeing all commodities that go into the company's products; Managing the training and development of the sourcing team; Ensuring strategic development and relations with suppliers in order to minimize supply risks
