The Associated Charities Board was established in Hancock County to assist individuals and families in need of food, clothing and shelter. It is an organization that has served Findlay and Hancock County since 1914!! As a board member, it is our responsibility to manage the endowment fund spending only the dividends and interest and retaining the principal of the fun so we may help individuals in need in perpetuity!!

I helped to establish and develop a community trust fund for the Hancock Wood Electric Cooperative Board. I wrote the guidelines and guided the board in the legal and technical aspects of creating a charitable foundation for the Rural Electric Cooperative. The HW Community Trust Fund was created to take care of the needs of individuals and families with charitable dollars donated by members in the Operation Round Up program where their bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar and put in the trust fund. Individuals and organizations apply for these funds to help HW members and communities in need. The Hancock Wood Community Trust Fund serves 10 counties in Northwest Ohio.

As part of the first board of directors, I helped to establish the first school foundation in the Hancock County area at the Arlington Local Schools. By establishing a school foundation for their schools, the Arlington, Ohio community developed several endowment funds to help with capital improvements, teacher development and excellence funds and scholarships. What started as a few thousand dollars is now a quarter of a million dollars with 12 scholarships for students.
