Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Lawler managed the medical department for a mobilization support unit in 2003. Later, he was in charge of 10 corpsmen and 7,000 prisoners in the Abu Ghraib Prison. In addition, he managed a clinic in the U.S. Marine Corps. From 2006 to 2007, he ran an aide station, where he prevented insurgents. He was in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, and his first tour was from 1966 to 1972, where he was a medical technician on a ship. His second tour was from 1987 to 2008. He conducted research on head injuries, spinal cord injuries and patient care, and for 10 years, he served as an assistant for pediatric neurosurgeons. He worked in the reserves and in a hospital in Bethesda, Md., and he has been deployed twice to Iraq. He served in the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines. On his second tour in Iraq, he worked in Ramadi at the regional detention facility, running the medical department. He retired from the military in 2008.
