Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Tommasino has directed the physician assistant program at Touro College in Bay Shore, N.Y., since 1998. In this position, he holds both administrative and academic responsibilities; the former include finance management, staff development, strategic planning, and all matters relating to accreditation standards, and the latter include overseeing emergency medicine, surgery, and the physical diagnosis laboratory. For the past two years Mr. Tommasino has also served as an exercise physiologist, research associate, and physician assistant at Farmingdale Heart Center in Farmingdale, N.Y. In addition, Mr. Tommasino is a lieutenant colonel in the Medical Specialist Corps, U.S. Army Reserve. Currently assigned to Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, N.Y., his responsibilities include supervising and training army medical specialists and overseeing all troop care. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tommasino was on active duty as a medical specialist with the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. Mr. Tommasino has held multiple leadership positions with the New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA), and is serving a term as president of the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiology (APAC) from July 2011 to July 2012.
