Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Martino was born into a creative and successful family of well-known musicians and entertainers. After her high school graduation, she had to forfeit a scholarship to the Fashion Institute of Technology in order to support her mother. While she had some acting and modeling jobs, as well as a role in the play "Hair," she found the entertainment world to be superficial and decided to work for corporate America. She returned to Wall Street and worked for Bankers Trust until it moved to the World Trade Center. She is both an animal and community activist and practices an important value taught to her by her mother: "What you do in this life will be judged in the next." She worked along with Senator Kruger to rid her community of a rodent problem by videotaping the rodent activity at night. The video was sent to media outlets and earned the headline of "Rats 1998," and the problem was addressed and fixed. She also stopped a big medical establishment from being built in her community, which would have caused exposure to disease, traffic and sanitation problems. She also keeps her own crime watch and her efforts on burglaries. The Community Board 15 had asked her if she wanted to run for the assembly, but she was busy caring for her sick mother at the time, and was also more effective as an anonymous activist. She is a community activist who takes pride in speaking out to overcome problems within her community.
She attributes her success to treating everyone like family. The customer is always right. She believes in taking plenty of time with each client to make her feel special.
