He attributes his success to his diligence, persistence, knowledge and experience.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession after working as a minister. He started doing individual analysis in 1970 and became interested in marriage counseling.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Murphy recently retired from his practice in individual, marriage and family therapy. He has had 14 editorial pieces and letters to the editor published in newspapers, and he has published a host of field-related books, chapters and articles. He also created five sculptures, which have been displayed. Between 2006 and 2009, Dr. Murphy taught at Tuoro College in New York. Prior to this, he was a supervisor and member of the faculty at the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute; he worked with the Blanton-Peale Institute from 1963 to 1968 and again from 1971 to 2001. He also lectured at the Union Theological Seminary between 1985 and 1996. Furthermore, Dr. Murphy is a former adjunct professor of the graduate dance therapy program at New York University, having served in this capacity from 1983 to 1991. He has also taught private infant-parent workshops between 1974 and 1990, and lectured at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colo., in 1990.
