The most outstanding accomplishment of her career has been the long-lasting relationship she developed with her 72-year-old client over the past eight years. She has had the liberty to work with an amazing woman who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. With exercise and support, her client has been able to overcome this obstacle and continue to commit to a healthy lifestyle without medications.

Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she has always loved participating in physical activities. She was also inspired by her mother, who works as a teacher.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Brown has been instrumental in developing a successful and progressive athletics program at P.S. 67 Charles Dorsey Elementary School, within The New York City Department of Education. Previously, Ms. Brown worked as a fitness director at Camp Shane, as a Pilates instructor for the Liberty Partnership Program, and as a personal trainer and aerobics instructor at the McBurney YMCA. Her duties have ranged from developing exercise programs, and managing a staff of fitness instructors, to teaching classes on sports and exercise to students of all ages. She is interested in starting a professional website to help promote her future endeavors in publishing, public speaking and physical fitness training. The goal is to make exercise fun, not work. She also aims to reach individuals at their current levels of fitness in order to create individualized exercise prescriptions as an alternative. She teaches healthy habits and offers nutritional counseling. Ms. Brown is passionate about the annual field day held at her school. It involves bringing the entire school together and creates community outreach and parent involvement. Ms. Brown facilitates and coordinates this fitness competition, in addition to presenting student awards after events. This annual challenge allows children to strive for athletic growth.

In five years, Ms. Brown expects to earn a Ph.D. and start a business that serves children and the elderly. She also hopes to open a Pilates and yoga studio, publish a book, and possibly do some public speaking. Her objective is to teach individuals how to eat healthy, and exercise with what means they currently possess. She would like to do international work involving obesity prevention in several different countries, in addition to pursuing philanthropic opportunities.
