Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Soffer returned to Lenox Hill Hospital in 2004 to join his mentor, Dr. Gary Roubin, and his interventional team. Between 2002 and 2004, Dr. Soffer assembled a team of vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists to create a successful carotid stent program in North Carolina. During this time, he was one of the first physicians in the U.S. to use a new atherectomy device to help patients with severely obstructed blood flow in their lower limbs. Dr. Soffer previously trained with Drs. William O'Neill, Cindy Grines and Robert Safian at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. In Michigan, Dr. Soffer participated in the first procedure involving the TandemHeart Device, which is accessible through the patient's skin. He has been a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials assessing new techniques and devices for the treatment of coronary, carotid, and peripheral circulation problems, as well as structural heart disease. He has expertise in high-risk coronary interventions, carotid stenting, and limb salvage procedures. In addition, he performs several different types of percutaneous interventions to treat reno-vascular disease and refractory hypertension, remedy narrowing of the aortic and mitral valves, and effect repairs of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects.

Dr. Soffer is the director of the vascular medicine laboratory at the Mount Sinai Heart and Vascular Center located at 485 Madison avenue, in New York City where he sees new patients.
