Extended Bio Profile:
Father O'Leary has written and produced television broadcasts, a film, and a series on religious topics. From 1959 to 1961, he conducted a television series for the Family Life Department of the Diocese of Buffalo. After he completed his doctoral studies, he became an adjunct professor at Mount Saint Joseph's Teachers College for Nuns. During this period, from 1957 to 1964, he was the faculty representative and education investigator for the case-study board to develop tailored programs for those having difficulty with reading. After being elected to the White House Council on Small Business under former President Jimmy Carter in 1980, he founded and initiated the Small Business Council of the Niagara Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. In 1982, as dean of continuing education at the College of Education at Niagara University, he started degree programs once the Ontario Parliament passed legislation requiring ministerial educators to offer degree programs. The university expanded under his leadership and by the time he left the program, the number of undergraduate students had risen from 30 to 500. After he left the College of Education in 1999 to become the associate vice president of academic affairs until his retirement in 2005, two very significant events happened in his life. The first was when Bishop Edward Head, then Bishop of Buffalo, arranged for him to celebrate mass with Pope John Paul in his private chapel in Vatican City. The second event was in July of 1996, when Father Joseph Levesque, C.M, then Provincial, made Father O'Leary an affiliate of the Vincentian Community.
