She became involved in her profession through her experience in caring for her mentally-challenged sister.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Rehfeldt underwent a simple back surgery that went terribly wrong. The procedure left her with permanent disabilities that forced her to retire from her teaching position. The doctors told her family she would die, but through her determination and strong faith, her condition improved. She remains disabled and experiences pain on a regular basis, but is slowly recovering and plans to return to teaching students who have various disabilities and are mentally challenged.
