She attributes her success to her passion for her profession and the support she receives from her students.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because, as a teacher she saw the potential and the influence of Title I in improving the education of the youth and wanted to be part in the expansion of those federal programs to go beyond just basic skills and into a holistic approach to educating the whole child.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Ramos has worked in the Newark, NJ school system for 26 years as a teacher, resource teacher and curriculum specialist. She also worked for their federal programs, coordinating staff development within the school system.
She accredits much of her success to her mentor, Mrs. Martha Lopez-Cosmetto. She was her English as a Second Language teacher at the Florida City refugee camp for the Peter Pan children. She was an excellent teacher who possessed great knowledge, kindness, refinement and faith.
Ms. Ramos would also like to thank her first influence in life, her grandmother, Candida Rosa Gonzalez-Feliu. She was school principal who always taught a class every day and taught her how to read when she was four years old.
