What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
I was the first physical anthropologist to study menopause in India in rural populations of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh from 1969 to 1970. I was able to train four master of arts students from the university of Delhi in anthropological field work and conducted the first cross-cultural analysis of menopause, comparing these women's attitudes, beliefs and behaviors to that of American women's, concerning menopause symptomatologies. I continued to study menopause cross-culturally for over 30 years and served as a mentor for other physical anthropologists who have studied menopause cross-culturally.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
My greatest achievement was being awarded a senior research fellowship for southeast Asia that allowed me to live in Indonesia from 1985 to 1986. I trained newly graduated medical doctors in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of Indonesia's medical school in field work methodology and the study of menopause in Javanese and Sumatran women.
