Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she was a nurses aide, working with patients as needed. She saw some nurses who were not doing the work needed, and decided to go into nursing to ensure that her patients would receive a high level of care.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Charles was born in Saint Marc, Haiti, under the maiden name Louis. Her mother was a successful businesswoman and her father was a judge. Prior to her arrival in the U.S., she worked as a secretary for EDH in Saint Marc. When she came to the U.S., she worked as a CNA in the nursing home and quickly moved up the ranks to become a medical assistant at Fellowship Village in New Jersey. As a CMA, she developed a passion working with elderly people. She especially loved helping the patients who seemed lonely or often in need of assistance. The companionship that she gained with her patients aided her decision to go back to college to receive a degree in nursing. Ms. Charles is inspired to continue achieving her goals. Her oldest son has his own business and is beginning a family of his own; her second son, who recently graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in life science, is on his way to achieving his goal of becoming a cardiologist; and her youngest son is graduating high school and getting ready to go to college to begin a successful career in physical therapy. Ms. Charles has also done various charitable initiatives for Haiti and Africa.
