He attributes his success to his father's encouragement to utilize his creativity and intelligence, his excellent college professors, and the colleagues he interacted with at the National Institutes of Health.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession following his enrollment in the U.S. Navy, where he began developing missile control and navigational guidance systems for the avionics section. He discovered his interest in medical electronics.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Clem began his career in 1963 and started his own company 15 years ago. He has published 20 papers, and holds three U.S. patents, which resulted in several commercial instruments. He has also taught in-house education at the National Institutes of Health, as well as computer classes in genealogy at the Montgomery County Genealogy Society. From 1986 to 1995, Mr. Clem was the vice president and treasurer of RH Medical Products, a division of Ro-Tech Incorporated. RH Medical Products manufactured and distributed a reusable syringe holder for fine needle aspiration biopsies. The division was dissolved and manufacturing stopped when the patent protection ceased and another company was able to produce a more cost-effective disposable device.
