She became involved in her profession because she inherited her father's and her sister's love for teaching, and loved working with children as a camp counselor, lifeguard, swimming instructor, and tutor.

Ms. Williams has been teaching for 39 years. Throughout her teaching career, more than 130 of her students since 1980 have received Special Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Pentel Awards from Pentel's International Children's Art Exhibition contests.
