He attributes his success to his interest in research and hard work, and the support he received from his mentor, Elliot Monstrol, who taught him to never say no, always look for long term goals and "get rich slowly;" he also accredits his success to the support he has received from his family, including his wife, Sharon, of 41 years, sons, Jason and Damien, daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Adrianna, and three grandchildren, Alexander, Jack and Gabriel.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession through a natural progression of opportunities; at the age of 12, he read "The Foundation Trilogy," which inspired him to move forward with science.

Mr. West holds a black belt in Judo. He published his book titled 'Where Medicine Went Wrong' in 2006 along with nine other books. He has also spoken and was interviewed at the Pentagon regarding climate control.
