Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Zimmerman is best known for his skills in management of pharmaceutical services. Currently on his third year with Southern Maryland Hospital Center, he utilizes this ability to manage clinical activities and oversee inpatient pharmacy operations. His responsibilities include handling drug distribution/automation, overseeing clinical consult reports, leading resolution of medication related problems, evaluating patient adverse drug reactions, developing policies and procedures promoting safe medication management through use of evidence-based literature, best-practice protocols, and other quality improvement initiatives; overseeing the development and maintenance processes of formulary review, medication use evaluations, therapeutic/automatic drug substitution protocols, and drug information resources. In addition, he maintains an active role with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Pathways Committee, Infection Control Committee, Critical Care Committee, Psych Committee and other multidisciplinary committees. He leads and coordinates development of clinical projects, communicates directly with physicians, nurses, hospitalists, and other health care providers regarding patient drug therapy through patient chart reviews and analysis of assorted target drug programs.
