Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
He became involved in his profession through the inspiration he received from the medical professionals in his family especially his uncle Dr. K.S.Prasad, a respected academic orthopedist in the United Kingdom.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Velagapudi works in conjunction with vascular and transplant surgeons, histocompatibility and immunogenetic laboratories, haematologists, intensivists, palliative care teams, cardiologists, rheumatologists, diabetologists, and microbiologists.
His academic track record includes publishing an article on mononeuritis multiplex in NHL and autonomous thyroid nodules in Endocrine Practice and conducting a presentation/publication on insulin resistance in acute coronary syndromes at American Diabetes Association. At University of Massachusetts Medical School, he worked on rectal cancer prognostic index, accepted an abstract in ASCOG 2009, and is currently working on Hyperkalemia in biliary complications after radiofrequency ablation. He also has ongoing work under review for publication on calcification of the rheumatic mitral valves. He has completed a highly competitive three-year postgraduate MD residency program in internal medicine in India and published a CREATE-ECLA study through the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2005. He plans to further his interests in cardiovascular complications in renal failure, calcium, potassium metabolism in renal failure and endocrine aspects of hypertension, and work on interventional nephrology, ultrasound techniques in renal medicine and critical care.
