She became involved in her profession because she loves gardening, nature and the great outdoors, and has always enjoyed being around people; she owns 20 acres of land and dedicated over two acres of space to the nursery, which started with 50 plants and now houses several thousand plants and flowers. She began devoting a lot of her time to the outdoors and doing things that she enjoyed, such as gardening and being around people as much as she could. This prompted and inspired to open a nursery. Prior to this career change, she worked in a family library, married, and raised four children on a sheep farm, and also ran a knitwear company. She sold that business and opened the nursery in 1975. Her customers come from all over the state, and approximately 95 percent learn about the nursery by word of mouth. She has made thousands of friends over the years, and enjoys the continual search for new plants and constant learning process that running a successful nursery demands. By not using any sprays at her nursery, her plants and flowers attract a large variety of birds to the area. Currently she is working on publishing two books :" Whispers", and "Sometimes trust a stranger".
