The highlights of his career include becoming a lecturer in agricultural marketing at The University of Sydney and being appointed chief executive officer of the federal government agency responsible for regulating wheat exports from Australia. In addition, he remembers the feeling of accomplishment he had when managing his first corporate property near Wagga Wagga.

He became involved in his profession because agriculture has always been his passion.
Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Woods has an abiding commitment to the growth and sustainability of the agricultural industry, and in the past 35 years, has managed the operation of several large rural enterprises as well as a federal government agency. His background includes experience in managing corporate mixed farming properties in the Riverina, consulting to agribusinesses, and lecturing at The University of Sydney in agricultural marketing and finance. In other executive roles, Mr. Woods has been responsible for the purchase and sale of commodities, the research and development of stock feeds and grains, and the marketing of these items to the livestock industry, including dairies, feedlots and feed manufacturers. His most recent role has been that of chief executive officer of Wheat Exports Australia, overseeing the agency's transition from monitoring the performance of the wheat single desk (AWBI) to accrediting multiple exporters to export bulk wheat from Australia. All of Mr. Woods' roles have required the injection of a strategic perspective, clarification of strategic direction and improved alignment of activity and purpose. His key strengths include building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Nowhere has this been more important than in his current role, because the reputation and credibility of the organization needed rebuilding following investigations into the Oil-for-Food Program. The agency now attracts respect from within the industry and is recognized by government as having played a pivotal role in re-establishing the international credibility of the Australian grains industry. Mr. Woods' passion has always been in agriculture, and he feels fortunate that it has also been his career. He regards himself as having the ability to relate easily to all levels of agribusiness, and enjoys a sound reputation within the industry for his knowledge and ability to get things done.
