Throughout the duration of your career, what was the one highlight that stood out the most?:
The highlight of her career was being named a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to dentistry. This was a highlight because it demonstrated that others in the profession had noticed her work and thought it was good enough to put forward for an honor. She was honored specifically for setting up the national service for poorly performing dentists within the National Clinical Assessment Service.

She attributes her success to networking widely, as well as to her qualifications and practical skills.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she wanted a career in health care in which she could be independent and her own boss. She wished to continue educating after her full-time employment ended, so she created her own business.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Brooks has developed a portfolio career, and enjoys providing education, coaching and training for dental care professionals. She was a dentist working with special-needs patients for more than 20 years. Prior to training as a dentist, Dr. Brooks was a medical laboratory technician in the fields of hematology and clinical genetics. She is currently working on a book to showcase dentists with portfolio careers and serving as senior consultant with Dentalia Coaching and Training. Her clients include several deaneries, the Dental Defence Union, British Dental Association, General Dental Council, Institute of Healthcare Management, Pankey Study Group and individual practices and practitioners. In addition to setting up her own successful coaching and training consultancy, Dr. Brooks has made many contributions to the dental profession throughout her career. Her achievements include setting up the national service for poorly performing dentists, playing a key role in establishing the National Council of Caldicott Guardians, and commissioning work to produce a resource for those employing and supporting European Economic Area dentists. In addition, Dr. Brooks participated in the project team that established the Foundation Degree for Dental Nursing at the University of Northampton, the first of its kind in the U.K.

Training dental care professionals in groups of six to 200 participants on leadership, negotiation, project management, communication, ethical issues, information governance, quality assurance, reflective practice and action planning; Coaching dentists for leadership development, career direction or remediation of performance; Working with dentists or organizations where there are issues of poor performance or professionalism
