Dr. Roettger volunteers at the Living History Farms to educate others on the history of Iowa during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Living History Farms is a historical museum that informs the public of the significance of agriculture during the development of America. By presenting authentic models of historical and modern farming, Living History Farms enables visitors to observe and participate in these processes and relate them to their own lives.

She attributes her success to the work ethic she inherited from her father and the support she receives from her husband.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after being given the opportunity to work with students who struggled with reading. She was inspired when their attitudes toward school changed once their reading skills progressed.
Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Roettger has taught students with reading difficulties in elementary and middle schools. At Heartland Area Education Agency, the largest educational service agency in Iowa, she held workshops for classroom teachers. She also taught undergraduate and graduate classes at Drake University and Iowa State University. She was a contributor to the Scribner Reading Series and developed teaching guides for children’s books in “Reading Beyond the Basal Plus,” published by the Perfection Learning Company.
