She attributes her success to her hard work and perseverance.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after first studying piano at Winthrop University. After her parents died, she stayed home to take care of her brother and worked at a hospital. She realized it would be best for her career to change her major to chemistry.
Extended Bio Profile:
After Dr. Huff's husband died, the hospital where she worked did not want to retain the technology courses she was teaching. Dr. Huff is an inspirational medical professional, having attained a medical degree at the age of 61, after a long career in health care. She has served as a medical technologist and was on the staff at AnMed Health medical center, first working in the lab and blood bank. She then worked in hemotology and became program director for the school. She taught classes in immunology, medical technology, microbiology and hematology for the baccalaureate program at the Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology. In high school, she was a singer and involved in the musical arts and glee club. Dr. Huff-Welborn has six grandchildren.

Seeing both inpatients and outpatients; Treating patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder; Prescribing treatment plans; Admitting, assessing and diagnosing the patients; Conducting psychotherapy sessions
