What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
Mrs. Von Bon is a educator who works in sales and cheerleading. Have you ever tried to sell an adjective? Division problem? She can. Cheerleading is another specialty. Adults and children come to PLUS thinking they cannot do something---read, write, calculate, compose a paragraph, whatever. Those people walk out doing what they thought they would never do. Their heads are held high.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Rita's greatest career achievement has been to "graduate" happy, successful students. When Rita was getting ready to leave aft3er 18 years at Apollo Elementary in Bossier City, LA, numerous former student came by to tellher such things as: I am a scientist because of you; I am a teacher; I am an author, etc. It was definitely the greatest career achievement to hear from former students and to celebrate their sucesses. My special award or bonus could ever match those moments.
How would you like to be remembered by your peers?:
When anyone remembers Rita, she hopes they will remember her great love for people. God is the greatest lover of all people. She has tried to share that love with others, especially in the teaching profession. Rita admits she has made tons of mistakes, just like everyone else, but God has blessed her with the spiritual gift of teaching. Rita would say to others, "Pass that gift of love on."
If you could solve one problem in the world today, what would it be?:
If Rita could solve one problem in the world today, it would be to spread the Good News of Jesus' love for all people. Because if everyone knew and enjoyed the tremendous love Rita feels from God, they would see how selfish we can be and start really caring and loving for each other. This change of attitude would change many problems in the world. It is not about us.
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?:
Lunch with beloved family members that have already gone would be tremendous. Often we don't realize how important our heritage and family culture is until it is too late. It would be fabulous to share a great Southern meal and video tape the whole session for all to see. Rita would be tempted to take notes, but she was restrain herself and enjoy those moments.

What Does He/She Attribute Success To:
She attributes her success to her faith in God. Despite of some poor choices she made on the road of life, teaching was her life, her destiny! Some doors close; others opened. Mrs. Von Bon's father had a fourth grade education; her mom had a ninth grade education. Her father daily encouraged her to further education. When she graduated from college, she was the first person in both families to graduate from college. One of her dad's words of wisdom was "If you are going to do anything, do your best." Those words caused her to reach for more; try harder; be the best.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her current profession after she was given a book, The Gift of Dyslexia by Ronald D.
