She became involved in her profession because she wanted to be a detective, but doesn't like one-on-one contact with people on the road. She saw an ad in a newspaper for the job, thought it sounded interesting, and went from there. Previously, she had always worked in accounting.

Ms. Pritchard has been a communications dispatch 911 supervisor for five years for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. There are 180 people in the department, and Ms. Pritchard monitors 30 individuals in four dispatch centers. She has also become the awards supervisor.
