Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession after retiring from the University of Tennessee, she was offered the position of vice president of academic programs for The InfiLaw System through an executive search firm.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Barlow began working on a full-time basis at the bursar’s office of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a fee control clerk in 1978 while attending school. She later rose to the position of bursar and then director of finance. In January 2004, she assumed the role of vice chancellor, a position that held her responsible for a 750 million dollar budget and primary fiscal, operational and auxiliary functions. In 2008, she retired from this position after 30-plus years of service. Ms. Barlow is grateful to The University of Tennessee for all of the opportunities and support she has received. With role models such as president Holt, her career at the educational institution has been both personally and professionally enriching. She will be participating in the Semester at Sea voyage, which will be sponsored by the University of Virginia in the spring of 2010.
