She became involved in her profession after attending national conventions as an educator and wanting to advocate for women's issues after retiring.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. McLean Waller has always wanted to make a difference in the lives of citizens in her community. She advocates for youths by working with local organizations and providing social work. Similarly, she visits nursing home patients three to four times per day. Prior to her current position, she was a strict teacher who taught mathematics. After completing a master's degree, she served on national and local committees, and was elected the Mayor of New London in the late 1980s. In her position, she worked on initiatives for women and children, and traveled with a group of 50 mayors to Africa.
