Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because she studied under photographic masters Richard Misrach and Ruth Bernhard, and spent many years as a successful wildlife photographer and portraitist.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Lankford is an author of three books. The first book, “Maggots in My Sweet Potatoes” was published in a photojournalistic series that addresses the social issues of child abuse and neglect, homelessness, incarceration, and the special needs of women behind bars. Her second book takes her readers onto the streets of downtown San Diego, introducing a diverse cast of characters and a challenging set of questions that shine new light on the difficult issue of homelessness. Her documentary film, “It's More Expensive to Do Nothing,” explores the dark and often disregarded world of criminal justice, the revolving door of institutionalization, the complexities of remediation, and the programs that have worked to help nonviolent ex-offenders succeed as self-sufficient members of society.
