Extended Bio Profile:
Mr. Jenkins has published a book on Gentry's Rio Mayo Plants. He has also had a plant named after him, Erigeron Jenkinsii. He did work for the research system in fire ecology. He also runs the Legumes of Arizona Project. Additionally, he does public service work for poison control, specifically involving the location and extermination of a certain breed of white fly which is spreading a virus to people through plants. He also does peer-reviews for European journals on plant taxonomy.
He has been going to Latin America and studying odd plants in western and tropical Mexico and offering information technology services in an effort to create a national virtual arboretum. Mr. Jenkins grew up on a farm in Washington, north of Portland, Oregon. His grandfather stayed with him every summer and after waking up at 3:00 A.M. they worked in the woods. He worked for the forest service instead of a logging firm because he didn't want to kill trees. In college, he was involved in music and played tenor saxophone and classical clarinet.
