Extended Bio Profile:
Dr. Kasovac serves as a chairman of the accreditation process at A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (SOMA). He had private conversations with board members after developing a residency program and teaching at a hospital where he was approached to become the full-time director of medical education. He agreed and was selected in 1980. He then served as director of medical education and in 1989 joined the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), which is now part of Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. He served as an assistant dean for clinical affairs for six years, and became dean of the medical school, a position that he held from 1995 to 2000. He then retired and moved to Phoenix to be near his family; however, he remained involved on a part-time basis. He worked on a national project for the American Osteopathic Association from 2000 to 2003 in order to start new residency programs all over the country, through which he approached non-teaching hospitals to develop these residency programs; he contacted 650 hospitals in 38 states. Between 2003 and 2006, he served as a part-time director of medical education in Mesa, AZ. In January 2007, he came on board with the School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona at A.T. Still University. He worked on the curriculum, and headed up an accreditation process. He had 16 years on the American Osteopathic Association board of trustees, having served from 1977 to 1993. He graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1963, and served on its board of trustees from 1972 to 1991. He practiced family medicine for 15 years in Phoenix, engaged in teaching students in his office, and became involved in education at a hospital, where he was approached to be a full-time teacher and helped to develop a residency program.
