He became involved in his profession because he felt called by God after owning his own barbershop. After he finally answered the call, he entered the ministry wholeheartedly, with his wife later joining him as his soloist in evangelism for several years.

Mr. Springfield has been married to his wife, Sandi, for 47 years. They share a son, Douglas (an entrepreneur) and a daughter, Dana (a nurse). He has four grandchildren: Amber, Levi, Tara and Katie. Mr. Springfield is now retired and occasionally fills the pulpit for churches without a pastor.
