She became involved in her profession because she enjoys working with children and wanted to educate our future leaders; a solid educational foundation is the most important thing to give to a child.
Extended Bio Profile:
Ms. Lake spent three wonderful years teaching in rural Alaska, while learning about and experiencing the different cultures. The first two years she lived in Akiachak, which is a small "bush village" on the Kuskokwim River. It is inhabited by Yup'ik Eskimos, whose lifestyle is subsistence hunting and fishing. Akiachak is accessible by bush plane year-round, personal boat during the summer, and personal snowmobile or four-wheeler during the winter after the Kuskokwim River freezes.
