Dr. Matus founded Justisse in 1987 and Justisse Healthworks for Women in 2003. She has worked as a fertility awareness and birth control educator, and a holistic reproductive health practitioner since 1977. She qualified as a lay midwife in 1985. She has been active in the reproductive health freedoms movement since 1977. She has had the privilege most of her professional life of working with and learning from some of Canada's best complementary and alternative medicine physicians.

Ms. Matus has done public speaking on women's health issues and psychological issues. She has had conference papers published as well.

Dr. Matus offers psycho-physiological therapy, drawing upon her training in counseling depth psychology, midwifery, and sexual and reproductive health education. She utilizes Jung's archetypal model of psychoanalysis, as well as other psycho-physiological practices in her work. Her areas of focus include healing through imagination, play and creativity; honoring and healing the psyche-soma connection; addiction recovery; love and partnership; reproductive health and human sexuality; and infertility counseling.

Justisse Healthworks for Women offers holistic reproductive health consultation and care for women. It serves women at all stages of reproductive life, including those who want natural contraception, those who want to conceive, and those that want to learn how to healthfully negotiate perimenopause and menopause. Justisse advocates a naturopathic and preventative medicine approach to health. It supports women in effectively practicing contraception and fertility enhancement through fertility awareness, and helps those who wish to avoid the side effects of contraceptive hormones, devices and surgery. She attributes her success to her perseverance and maintaining her strong, ethical stance on putting patient care first, as well as to listening to the voice of the unconscious with as much attention as to the voice of reason.
Why did you become involved in your profession or industry?:
She became involved in her profession because of a challenging experience with hormonal contraception in her late teens, after which she became involved in a psycho-physiological and holistic approach to reproductive and mental health care. She became committed to educating women on how they can effectively and confidently use fertility awareness and gain body literacy, for personal empowerment and health. Her work with women as a midwife lead her into her interest in depth psychology.
