What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
Ms. Fris loves children and has been a life long learner. She is constantly searching for new techniques and strategies in order to provide a better education for her students. She takes college courses, researches new ideas and attends workshops that are in the best interest of her students, including earning her master's in curriculum and instruction.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Ms. Fris' greatest career achievement has been gaining a wondrous passion for teaching and loving children of all ages. After obtaining her teachers of English to students of other languages endorsement, she acquired a vast knowledge of strategies and techniques that enabled all of her students to succeed. This has given her the ability to be more understanding of her students needs and learning styles from various language backgrounds. Ms. Fris uses cooperative learning groups, peer tutoring and small group instruction to meet the needs of her students. In addition, she uses a lot of hands-on activities to help them learn new skills while learning English. Through the use of a sign language interpreter, she also had the unique opportunity to work with a deaf child. This experience allowed her to enhance her students' communication needs in several modes. Though these achievements, she has touched and influenced students and professional peers and they have influenced her in return.
Highlight of career?:
The most gratifying aspect of her career is when students have an 'ah-ha' moment after understanding how a concept works.
