What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
Ms. Tanke's ability to keep current with educational issues, and research trends as well as incorporate up-to-date information in her teaching, which enables her to be creative in designing lesson plans that meet school board mandated district goals as well as national standards separate her from her peers.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Ms. Tanke's greatest career achievement was successfully working with underprivileged children who came to her completely unprepared for school. She was able to get a large percentage of these children ready enough for first-grade so they can be successful through many years of school.
How would you like to be remembered by your peers?:
Ms. Tanke would like to be remembered by her peers as a teacher who believed that all children can learn and succeed.
If you could solve one problem in the world today, what would it be?:
Ms. Tanke would like to help each person realize his or her potential as a productive person in the society.

Ms. Tanke would like to have lunch with the late Princess Diana.
Expanded Biography:
Ms. Tanke's teaching career includes working with seventh and eighth-grade remedial reading classes, fifth grade self-contained classes and kindergarten half-day and full-day sessions. She was asked to serve on several district curriculum-writing teams. As a pilot teacher for a reading series, she gained experience from speaking at sales meetings, being filmed for a sales promotional film and sharing knowledge of the product at the International Reading Conference held in Indianapolis. She was also given the opportunity to be a teacher reviewer for MacMillan/McGraw-Hill 2005 kindergarten science program. In July of 2006, she was a practitioner presenter at the national 'I Teach K!' conference at Nashville in Tennessee. Her session was entitled 'Fabulous Fluency.'
Highlight of career?:
The most gratifying aspect of her career is being able to help students who enter her class without entry-level skills to become successful in the first grade and beyond.
