What do you feel separates you from the rest of the professionals in your industry?:
Mrs. Midyett's ability to single-mindedly focus on one thing and maintain an all-consuming passion for biblical education are what separates her from her peers.
What has been the most outstanding thing you have done thus far in your career?:
Her greatest career achievement was to transform her original mimeographed editions into electronic compact disc editions, which can be made available worldwide. In addition, once books are on compact disc, Sarah and her husband will modify the copyright restrictions, enabling anyone willing to complete their Bible teacher training course to make their own copies of the Learner's Discovery Guides. This will allow her work to become a self-perpetuating ministry and also promote her work, all of which can be downloaded.
Expanded Biography:
Mrs. Midyett was born in 1927 and has experienced pivotal points in her life where she experienced great changes. At the age of 12, she gave her life to Christ and at the age of 18 she gave up plans for a writing career that would have highlighted her own fortune and fame in exchange for a life dedicated to Christ. She changed her life in response to messages that she received from first Corinthians 6:19,20, John 12:24 and Mark 8:34,35, which instructed her to glorify and seek the word of God. During the time she was 22 she took a Bible course from Miss. Sara Petty and was so influenced by it that she returned to Columbia Bible College to become Miss. Petty's assistant in the directed teaching department. When she turned 28, God instructed her to make biblical workbooks. By the age of 30, she was encouraged by Dr. Arthur Glasser to cancel her mission trips and write Biblical materials to inspire others. Upon reaching the age of 38, Columbia Bible College discontinued the direct teaching department because of a financial crisis. She was then challenged by the Lord to expand her four-volume Bible Workbook Series for Christian schools, which expanded nationwide through connections and attending conventions. When she turned 49, God blessed her with her husband J.T. After turning 51, she traveled abroad to spread her literature internationally. At the age of 66 she returned to the United States to care for her mother, who later passed away. She soon met Douglas Bosler, who helped to get her books computerized. Finally, at the age of 79, she felt the Lord led her back to Australia so that she could complete her electronic editions in privacy. She relies on a quote from her mother to guide her in life, which says 'If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!.' She also learned three important quotes from Miss. Petty, which are: 'Do first the thing you're paid to do,' 'Do Next the thing that must be done' and 'Do the thing that only you can do.' She gives so much of her life to the Lord, because she believes that no one can out-give the Lord. Mrs. Midyett was featured in Memphis, Tennessee in June, 2006. She will go on a hibernation in Australia in 2008 to complete her Bible curriculum. Mrs. Midyett encourages people to visit her website at http://www.goteach.org, where her work can be downloaded.
